HORIZON CENTER
Kenosha, Wisconsin

Project Snapshot
Gateway Technical College Horizon Center uses advanced audio/video and simulation technology to train automotive technicians. Located in Kenosha, Wisconsin, this nationally-known education training facility includes: 16 automotive bays with audio/video connectivity, digital signage systems throughout the building, smart classrooms and a community room equipped with videoconferencing and presentation capabilities.

Standout Features
Video and audio hookups in each car bay allow action going on there to be taped and broadcast live to a classroom, where an instructor can communicate with the student working on a car in the bay while talking to students in the classroom.  In addition, the action can be broadcast on a two-story screen in the bay area- or the screen can be used to re-broadcast a training video so students can watch it and learn while they are doing hands-on work on the car.

Testimonial
“The Horizon Center is a world-class facility with unique conferencing capabilities, a technology infrastructure that is completely wireless and interactive with the World Wide Web, and an educational environment that truly is a model for the future,” said Bryan Albrecht, President of Gateway Technical College.  “Students experiencing the programs are issued a laptop computer by which all curriculum, team projects, and instructor interaction are managed. Many have called this the college’s first paperless educational program.”
